Much different than Vader, which I had found it horrible the way Vader would kill his men (Poor Captian Needa). The closet thing I can get is that it was his manner of ruling the Empire. To this day, I have no idea what fascinated me or drew me to Thrawn from reading “Dark Force Rising”. I read more though at the time still much was unknown about Thrawn. I had bought “The Essential Guide to Characters” when the Pics were just all black and white outlines. At the time the Internet was still new (my age is showing) so I had begged my mom for us to go to a bookstore.

I didn’t understand much of the military language, still learning it to this day, but something about this Thrawn guy fascinated me. Before I read it, I was a fan of the Rebel Alliance and “Dark Force Rising” did something even more important. But what “Dark Force Rising” did for me was open up a whole new world. The following months, I was able to find “Heir to the Empire” and “The Last Command”. I also had no idea that the book was part 2 of a trilogy(I found out much later after the excitement settled down) but nevertheless I breezed through it in a month. At the time, I had no idea that there was Star Wars novels, and got super excited. There on a bookshelf of the used book part was “Star Wars: Dark Force Rising” By Timothy Zahn. I liked most if not all characters and at the time, I mostly preferred the Rebel Alliance. Imaginary blasters are safer than imaginary lightsabers apparently. Mainly Han Solo after I got into trouble for breaking a lamp pretending to be Luke fighting Vader. From there, my favorite characters, were Luke and Han Solo. I sat there and watched the whole movie from that moment in time, I was hooked. Sat me down in front of the TV and put in a VHS copy of A New Hope. I was 4 years old, my brother who was older than me and watched A New Hope when it first came out in theaters when he was 4. I’ll open the blog by telling the starting of my love of Star Wars. I couldn’t decide on what to blog on so I decided to do all 3. Welcome to The Phalanx of Thrawn! A blog all about Grand Admiral Thrawn, The Chiss, and The Empire of The Hand.
